How Natural Medicine Works
Naturopathic Medicine blends centuries-old natural therapies with a modern understanding of current medical technology and advances in the study of health and human biological systems. Naturopathic Doctors (as designated by the initials N.D. or N.M.D.) attend four-year accredited schools and are the only licensed medical practitioners who are clinically trained in the use of a wide variety of natural therapies. These therapies include clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, and hydrotherapy (the curative use of water).
The philosophy of naturopathic training is rooted in the importance of treating the whole person, rather than just treating symptoms. Rigorous patient evaluations may include routine blood testing and specialty functional medicine testing that identify the root cause of your symptoms. Naturopathic therapies are then tailored to the patient and strive to address the underlying cause of the patient’s condition as well as providing symptomatic treatment. These therapies are intended to support and stimulate the patient’s innate healing processes in the gentlest, least invasive, least suppressive, and most complete manner. Self-care and self-responsibility for health are also emphasized.

That means different things for different individuals and their unique health requirements. Dr. Castle does not take a one-size-fits-all approach to food or to supplementation.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a system of energetic medicine that uses nano dosing of substances to stimulate a gentle, balancing response from the body. While the mechanisms of action for homeopathy aren’t well understood, homeopathic preparations are strictly regulated in the United States and Europe. People in many parts of the world accept and use homeopathy including citizens of the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, France, Luxemburg, Mexico, and India, to name a few.
Botanical Medicine
Botanical medicine is the use of plant material as medicine, a centuries old tradition that evolved alongside civilization. Today the clinical understanding of botanical medicine is being refined and enhanced by scientific studies that investigate how plants act on human physiology. Appropriate dosing and knowledge of drug-herb interactions are also important aspects of successfully using botanical medicines.
